Starting with Falzan's sire, *Fawzan, very few Egyptian stallions imported to the United States have a pedigree with as many of Egypt's great racehorses. A son of Amlam-Emam, one of the two Balance sons used as primary sires by the Hamdan Stables, *Fawzan was bred for a racing future by Ahmed Hamza Pasha, Minister of Agriculture under King Farouk. *Fawzan was imported by the Klines in 1970 as a four-year old, having placed in 4 races in Egypt. He took ill on his trip to the US and his racing career was ended. He has 23 registered progeny including Falzan-*Fawzan x Falmona(*Faleh x *Bint Mona) - Most Classic Arabian 1989 Region 5 Autumn All Arabian ,Placed 2nd twice - Arabian Breeding Stallion 1989 Reg 4, Pleasure Driving Winner, and a Stakeswinning sire, and FAWLA AHR# 295738,*Fawzan x Talya by *Talal foaled 1984 & sold at Pyramid Society Filly Fantasia 1985 for $94,000.
*Fawzan’s sire, Emam-Amlam, was the winner of five races in Egypt before retiring to stud. Emam-Amlam's sire, Balance, was one of Egypt’s most successful racehorses, having won 14 stakes races in the 1930’s. Amlam’s dam Komeira, was successful on the track as well, winning three. Her sire, desert bred Nabras, won five. Komeira is also the granddam of *Kahramana, who produced the champion stallions Ibn Morafic+++ and Shah Nishan+ .
*Fawzan’s dam, Foze was a Nazeer daughter out of the Sid Abouham daughter Fathia who traces to Bint Samiha, Nazeer’s dam. Fathia’s daughter Foze was exported to West Germany from Hamdan Stables in 1971. Sid Abouham won 14 races and Nazeer placed in 15 races.
Now for Falzan's dam's side.
His dam Falmona, (*Faleh x *Bint Mona), was a spectacular broodmare who’s sire, *Faleh, won the 1972 ,100 mile CompetitiveTrail competition, was twice US National Champion in Native Costume, National Top Ten honors in Sidesaddle and English Pleasure. His son, Asjah Ibn Faleh, won US Race Colt of the year in 1977 and Racehorse of the Year in 1980. Falmona's dam *Bint Mona was imported by Glennloch Farms in 1964, and was the dam of Theegyptianprince as well as many other greats.
Thank you Laura Jacobson for the unselfish and priceless contribution of facts relating to Falzan's past and ancestors! A link to her memorial website (under construction) for Kline Arabians is coming soon!
